This new book,
published by the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, is a photographic
documentary of the orders and decorations contained in the museum's
"Nikola Tesla Legacy" collection. It consists of 13 items:
nine badges of orders with diploma of award and four diplomas of orders
without orders badges, since they are not found in the Nikola Tesla Legacy.
Included are decorations, crosses of merit,
medals and academic distinctions, all except one of these belonging to
Nikola Tesla. The exception is the diploma of the Austrian Cross of Merit of
Franz Joseph I, awarded to Milutin Tesla, Nikola Tesla's father.
According to the provenience, the orders are divided into
domestic and foreign. The sequence is according to the chronology of
foundation. The medals are listed in chronological order according
to the year when awarded.
The Orders were awarded in the period between 1873 - 1939.
Nikola Tesla Museum was founded
on December 5, 1952 under the decision of Federal National Republic of
Yugoslavia. It was open to the public on October 20, 1955. Legacy of
Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856, Smiljan - January 7, 1943, New York) is kept
in the Museum. Whole Legacy was brought to Yugoslavia owing to Tesla's
nephew, Mr. Sava Kosanovic, his only legal ancestor.
Legacy comprises of:
1. Archive documentation - 155,000 documents and 5000 documents collected after the foundation of the museum;
2. Exhibits divided into ten collections (1050 legacy exhibits and about
150 exhibits collected after 1955;
3. Library - book collection, monographic publications, magazines,
newspapers and periodicals (book collection part of the Legacy, 1171 title
and over 1200 collected after 1955;
Catalogue: "The Orders from the Nikola
Tesla" is the first collection, among ten published by the Museum.
