I was told that Tesla was able to remotely boil a 50 gal drum of oil from 100 miles away ... how did he do this ?

Many stories have been told of feats that Tesla is said to have performed which have no readily apparent basis in fact, and this could very well be one of them.  On the other hand, the transmission of energy to achieve such a result might be accomplished with Tesla's particle-beam device—assuming the fundamental concept is valid.  Considering statements made in a 1934 letter to the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., Tesla certainly did.
